Julian Bennet

Julian Bennet joined Augusta & Co in February 2009. He previously worked at Morgan Stanley, where he focused on M&A and Capital Markets transactions in the MENA region. Prior to this, he spent a year in the Investment Banking Division at HSBC working on Media & Telecoms and General Industrials advisory. He has been based in both London and Dubai. Julian graduated from Oxford University in 2005 with a degree in the Classics.

Hartmut Betke

Hartmut has 14 years of experience in private equity and corporate finance. He joined from Frankfurter Beteiligungs-Holding, where he was working in investing private equity in distressed and restructuring situations. Prior to that, he worked for the private equity team of Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and London, having trained with Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and New York. He graduated from the University of Karlsruhe with a Degree in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering.

Sophie Christmann Sophie Christmann joined Augusta & Co in Frankfurt in April 2006 to focus on supporting financing and merger & acquisition transactions, having worked for Augusta before as a Summer Intern. She graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. During her studies she completed several Corporate Finance internships in Frankfurt and London including at Augusta & Co, Dresdner Bank as well Doertenbach & Co.

Simon Clement-Davies Simon Clement-Davies worked for 13 years as an investment banker before moving into the media industry to focus on content creation in music, television and film as an entrepreneur. As an investment banker Simon was a Director of Hill Samuel Securities specialising in cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions. He subsequently ran the Media desk at Bankers Trust where his clients included a number of Europe's leading media businesses, including Carlton Communications, Telewest, Bertelsmann and Antena 3. At Bankers Trust he was involved in a broad range of transactions in M&A, structured finance and derivatives.

Kate Earl joined Augusta as the company’s Management Accountant in September 2009. Kate has 8 years’ accounting experience having worked in various roles in a large Australian construction engineering firm, McConnell Dowell. Kate is currently studying towards completion of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She speaks intermediate German.

John Edwards

John Edwards has over 20 years' experience of providing corporate finance and M&A advice to clients on mid-market transactions. Until December 2009, he was a partner of Augusta, having joined the firm in early 2007 to lead the UK M&A practice. John continues to spend the majority of his time on Augusta business, with a particular focus on M&A in the UK market and on raising capital in the waste management arena. After qualifying as a chartered accountant, he joined Hill Samuel Bank where he became a director of Hill Samuel Securities and then joined Close Brothers Corporate Finance where he was a Director. For the 4 years prior to joining Augusta, he was a Managing Director of Amethyst Corporate Finance.

Justin FitzHugh

Justin FitzHugh spent 6 years in Industrials M&A/IB at JPMorgan in London, where he worked on a broad range of private and public sector transactions including United Technologies' acquisition of Chubb plc. After JPMorgan, he gained an MSc (with Distinction) in Energy Policy from Imperial College London before moving to ILEX (now Pöyry) Energy Consulting, where he worked on management and economic consulting projects in the power sector. He joined Climate Change Capital at the start of 2006, working on project finance, private equity and M&A mandates across the clean energy and carbon credit sectors. He joined Augusta in August 2008.

Benjamin Hall

Benjamin joined Augusta in June 2008 from Evercore Partners where he was a member of the European advisory team. At Evercore he advised prominent multi-national corporations on strategic financial transactions. Benjamin has experience with merger & acquisition, debt advisory and restructuring mandates across multiple industries. He has also worked extensively on equity placements for renewable energy companies. He graduated in 2006 from the London School of Economics with an LL.B (Honours) in Law.

Chester Hii

Chester joined Augusta in June 2010 and performs the role of Finance Director. He has over 10 years of experience in audit, financial reporting, transaction support, financial management and control. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has held managerial positions at Ernst & Young and Hastings Funds Management Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westpac Banking Corporation in Australia. Chester holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance from the University of Melbourne.

Charlie Hodges

Charlie joined Augusta & Co in January 2011 having spent the past three years as a senior wind analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance in London. Charlie was responsible for the company’s offshore wind research and managed several consulting projects for utility, oil and financial clients. He graduated from the London School of Economics in 2007 where he completed his BSc. (Honours) in Environmental Economics.

Joanna Hubbard

Joanna joined Augusta in October 2011 to focus on capital markets structuring and placement. Before joining Augusta she was part of the structured products and debt advisory team at Amias Berman, London. Joanna graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English Literature, during which time she completed several summer internships in DCM at Citi Group. She speaks intermediate Russian.

Patrick Jaeger

Patrick joined Augusta in May 2010 with over 7 years of Investment Banking and Restructuring experience. At Citigroup in London, he was a member of the Transport, Infrastructure and Utilities investment banking teams, where he worked on a broad range of public and private market transactions. Patrick’s sector experience includes, among others, deals in shipping, aviation, logistics, materials, business services, waste management and power generation and distribution. With a strong focus on growth companies and emerging markets, he is experienced in working with owner operated businesses and entrepreneurial management teams. Before joining Augusta, Patrick was responsible for the negotiations and restructuring efforts for his family’s business ventures in Turkey. Patrick is a graduate of the European Business School (ebs), Oestrich Winkel, and Hong Kong University. He is a native German and French speaker and has working knowledge of Turkish.

James Knight James Knight has focused on renewables and corporate finance for the past 5 years and worked for 11 years in the M&A market and leverage finance market. Prior to joining Augusta, James spent almost 5 years in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, both in the LBO Coverage Group and the UK Advisory Team, and subsequently as a private equity advisor at Vision Capital. James has an MA in Economics and Geography from Edinburgh University.

Joachim Koolmann

Joachim Koolmann joined Augusta & Co in May 2010 to concentrate on restructuring and debt advisory. He has more than 20 years experience in structured finance, high yield capital markets, leverage finance and most recently distressed debt principal investments.

He joined from Bear Stearns/JP Morgan and before that Deutsche Bank, London where he was responsible for the origination and structuring of distressed debt principal investments. Before Deutsche, he worked for Dresdner Kleinwort in various positions including Co-Head of European Leverage Finance as well as Bankers Trust and Morgan Guaranty Trust of New York. Joachim has a degree from Bankakademie, Frankfurt and speaks German.

Rachael Luxton Rachael Luxton joined Augusta in June 2009 from Citigroup where she spent the previous 11 years in various roles focused on credit and corporate finance. Rachael has significant experience in restructuring and managing distressed debt situations having spent 4 years in Citigroup London’s workout and restructuring team. Thereafter, Rachael was responsible for originating and structuring of finance solutions for public companies in the TMT sector. Rachael graduated from Otago University, New Zealand with Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce.

Mortimer Menzel Mortimer Menzel has 7 years of expertise in placing equity finance in renewable energy deals (both project and corporate finance) and 20 years of banking, legal and financial structuring experience. Prior to joining Augusta, Mortimer was at Goldman Sachs corporate finance/M&A in Frankfurt. Before becoming a banker, Mortimer was a solicitor with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Frankfurt, specializing in cross-border asset and structured finance transactions. He trained with Linklaters in London.

Letizia Pezzali Letizia joined Augusta in January 2011 as an Associate Director to focus on debt and M&A advisory. Prior to Augusta, she spent 6 years at JPMorgan, both in London and Milan, where she worked in the M&A team (in Italy as well as in the Oil&Gas and Utilities industries) and subsequently moved to the Leveraged Finance Origination team.
Letizia holds a degree in Business Administration from the Bocconi University in Milan and also studied at the University of Michigan Business School. She speaks Italian and English.

Michael Poynor Michael has worked in the retail sector for over 30 years. He was an executive with C&A in the UK and The Netherlands for 9 years and then, for 6 years, was responsible for International Business Development at Asda, prior to its acqusition by WalMart. His former academic roles include principal lecturer at the London Institute and adjunct professor of International Retailing at Syracuse University. Michael has provided commercial and operational due diligence services across all retail and branded goods sectors for most of the Private Equity houses in the UK and Europe, and a number of the major banks. Via his company Chanctonbury Ltd, he is also contracted as Chief Retail Adviser by PricewaterhouseCoopers in London. Michael operates from bases in the UK and France, and speaks a number of European languages.

Frederik Roever Frederik Roever has 5 years of expertise in placing equity finance in renewable energy deals (both project and corporate finance). Mr Roever’s key focus is wind and small hydro energy in Europe. Prior to Augusta, Mr Roever worked in investment banking at FCF Fox Corporate Finance. Frederik Roever graduated with honours from Technical University Berlin and speaks German and English.

Benedikt von Schröder Benedikt von Schröder has been active at a senior level in corporate finance and private equity for over 20 years and was a Partner at Augusta until September 2010. Prior to joining Augusta he was a Partner at Clayton Dubilier & Rice, the US private equity firm, which he joined in April 2000 to help identify investment opportunities in Germany and Europe and take advantage of the massive restructuring of German industry currently underway. Prior to joining CD&R, he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and a Member of the Management Board of Morgan Stanley AG in Frankfurt, responsible for its German and Austrian investment banking business.

Charlotte Valori Charlotte joined Augusta & Co in August 2011. She previously worked in the House of Commons as a key member of an MP’s parliamentary team. Prior to this, she worked at Copenhagen Capital LLP in Mayfair. Charlotte graduated from Oxford University in 2005 with a degree in Classics from Christ Church. She also has a Graduate Diploma in Law (City University, 2008).

Thomas A. Warnholtz Thomas Warnholtz has more than 20 years of experience on both the buy- and sell-side of leveraged finance. He has been both a mezzanine and structured debt investor as well as a leveraged debt banker. At Augusta he focuses on structuring and placement of senior & mezzanine debt. Furthermore, he heads the sponsor coverage business for Augusta. Previously he worked for Intermediate Capital Group as Investment Director and Country Head for Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Before that he established the Structured Finance Group at Landesbank Berlin / Bankgesellschaft Berlin, Berlin and worked in the investment banking division of Citibank/Citicorp in Frankfurt and New York. Thomas holds a Dipl-Kfm. (Honours) from the University of Hamburg and speaks English and German.
